Scary On-Air Incident During News Broadcast Finally Explained

The cast appeared on the cover of Uptown magazine looking stunning. Gurira—one of the play’s writers—and actresses Saycon Sengbloh, Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia, Zainab Jah and Nyong’o all don natural hairstyles and chocolate complexions.

Nyong’o explained that she was drawn to the role because of how unprecedented the points of view are.

“I thought it was an incredibly engaging and riveting story, and I was just dumbfounded that I never experienced anything like it before: five African women telling their stories, and each of the women are so distinct from the other one.”
