The series will air on CBS All Access and will make Martin-Green the first African-American woman to lead the cast of a Star Trek ensemble, which was the goal of the show's original showrunner, Bryan Fuller. Fuller said that Martin-Green’s character would be a “lieutenant commander with caveats.”

Walking Dead fans shouldn't fret, because Martin-Green will still portray her character, Sasha, on the popular show (at least for now … because we all know how they like to kill off people).
