A Davidson County sheriff’s deputy is facing charges of aggravated assault, burglary and vandalism after allegedly confronting his estranged wife and her boyfriend over the weekend, The Tennessean reports.
The incident took place early Saturday morning while 38-year-old Donald Dixon was armed and on duty, the news site notes. Dixon allegedly barged into his estranged wife’s home and confronted her and her boyfriend, at one point reportedly placing his hand on his gun.
Dixon and the boyfriend fought before the boyfriend left, The Tennessean reports. Dixon then reportedly grabbed his wife by the throat as they continued to fight.
Dixon has been put on administrative leave. He was booked into jail Saturday morning before being released on a $10,000 bond after a mandatory 12-hour “cooling off” period, the news site reports.
According to The Tennessean, Dixon is a 13-year veteran with the department. Officials are investigating the incident, and Dixon is due in court Feb. 17.
