Two-year-old Sophia was promised by her parents, Brandi and Nick Benner, that if she successfully pooped on her potty for a month, she would be rewarded with a gift. That challenge was obviously no match for Sophia, because off she went to Target to pick out her gift.

Sophia spotted a doll she wanted. But the cashier at Target obviously thought that she deserved a doll that looked more like her.

โ€œShe, of course, picked a new doll,โ€ Brandi Benner wrote on Instagram. โ€œWhile we were checking out, the cashier asked Sophia if she was going to a birthday party. We both gave her a blank stare. She then pointed to the doll and asked Sophia if she picked her out for a friend. Sophia continued to stare blankly and I let the cashier know that she was a prize for Sophia being fully potty trained. The woman gave me a puzzled look and turned to Sophia and asked, โ€˜Are you sure this is the doll you want, honey?โ€™ Sophia said, โ€˜Yes, please!โ€™โ€

โ€œBut she doesnโ€™t look like you. We have lots of other dolls that look more like you,โ€ the cashier said.

โ€œYes, she does. Sheโ€™s a doctor like Iโ€™m a doctor. And Iโ€™m a pretty girl and sheโ€™s a pretty girl,โ€ Sophia said. โ€œSee her pretty hair? And see her stethoscope?โ€

โ€œOh, thatโ€™s nice,โ€ the cashier said.

Benner said that the experience made her proud of her daughter.

โ€œThis experience just confirmed my belief that we arenโ€™t born with the idea that color matters,โ€ she wrote. โ€œSkin comes in different colors just like hair and eyes and every shade is beautiful.โ€

Just give Sophia all the dolls. And letโ€™s give that cashier all the side eyes and some diversity training.
