He removed the tweet—apparently an attempt at a lasagna joke—shortly after it appeared, but after another follower bashed the award-winning comedian for acting as if the tweet had never happened, Martin tweeted back, “I did apologize. But again, a second later I realized what an offensive thing I’d done. Deep bow.”

He later added, “My tweet was highly inappropriate.”
