Social Media Shames Anthony Weiner

(The Root) — Anthony Weiner stood in front of cameras today to admit to an inappropriate online relationship with a 22-year-old woman. It was familiar territory for the former congressman, who resigned his seat two years ago in the midst of a similar scandal.

During a press conference today, Weiner admitted to the relationship. “I said that other texts and photos were likely to come out,” said Weiner, “and today they have.” He also said that he currently has no intention to withdraw from the mayoral race. His wife, Huma, was by his side, saying that she loves him and forgives his poor decisions.

Twitter wasn’t quite as forgiving, however; it had plenty of chastising and jokes to spread around.
