Over the last week, two black men have been shot and killed by police, and their deaths have been witnessed by those on social media.

People, not even recovered from the tragedy of seeing Alton Sterling being killed by Baton Rouge, La., police officers on Tuesday, witnessed the aftermath of Philando Castile's death Wednesday at the hands of police in the Minnesota Twin Cities region.
Castile, who was pulled over for a broken taillight, was with his girlfriend, Lavisha Reynolds. In a Facebook Live video posted by Reynolds, viewers can see Castile with what appear to be several gunshot wounds to his torso, with Reynolds giving a rundown of what happened. Reynolds said that Castile told the officer he was reaching for his license and also informed the cop that he was carrying a gun, which was registered in the open-carry state of Minnesota. But we all know how that goes.

Castile is the 506th person killed by a police officer this year. Open-carry only seems to work for nonblack people.
