A Russian wildlife park has taken in a black goat that was named “Obama,” dubbing its new addition a “rare, exotic animal,” NBC News reports.

Usually, the network notes, “goat” in Russian is an insult to describe an obtuse, obstinate and headstrong person. The goat had already been named by a farmer in the Russian city of Sochi before it was acquired by Primorsky Safari Park.
According to the report, officials first tried to take the goat to one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residences but were told that Putin “holds no meetings with goats,” park director Dmitry Mezentsev said in a statement.
“It took a while to prepare the paperwork for Obama’s move [from Sochi to the park]. Guarantees were required that Obama would bring no pests, that Obama has no tapeworms, etc.,” Mezentsev added.
This is not the first time that the Russian park has gotten an animal named after a foreign leader. Earlier this year, it acquired a female goat named after German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
