During this year’s Black Girls Rock! award show, BET will honor the singer with the Rock Star Award. The event, which takes place in Newark, N.J., and airs on BET, has become an annual celebration of black women in various aspects of entertainment and philanthropy. 

On Monday, Rihanna expressed gratitude about her upcoming honor.

Black Girls Rock! will air April 5 on BET, and Shonda Rhimes as well as Amandla Stenberg will also be among those honored, with Tracee Ellis Ross returning as host.
