Richard Sherman ‘Sure’ Colin Kaepernick Being Blackballed by NFL

Joining a widening chorus of those who have an opinion on the subject (President Donald Trump included), outspoken and sometimey cornerback Richard Sherman says that the NFL is on some b.s. when it comes to quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick, formerly of the San Francisco 49ers (a team he led to the Super Bowl a mere four years ago), made international headlines after he refused to stand for the national anthem last season, trying to draw attention to the plight of black Americans being killed by police.

He has since thrown himself into philanthropy and activism. He is currently a free agent without a team.

On ESPN’s First Take on Friday, Sherman was asked if Kap was being blackballed by NFL teams.

“I’m sure he is,” Sherman said. “It’s difficult to see because he’s played at such a high level, and you see guys, quarterbacks, who have never played at a high level being signed by teams. So it’s difficult to understand.”

He continues, “But you see quarterbacks, there was a year Matt Schaub had a pretty rough year and got signed the next year. So it has nothing to do with football. You can see that. They signed guys who have had off years before.”

ESPN reports that while Sherman initially said that Kaepernick would have to settle for a backup role, he later changed his mind when considering some of the other quarterbacks who have gotten starting jobs.

“You don’t have 32 starting-level quarterbacks in this league,” Sherman said. “You have about eight elites, and then you have the rest of the league. ... So he could play and start on a ton of teams in this league. ... But you’re telling me that you’re going to let other guys, you’re going to pick up some of these other guys and tell me that they’re starters?”

A few days ago, Spike Lee posted on Instagram that there was something very fishy (like, stinky fishy) about Kaepernick’s situation with the “NoFunLeague.”

The problem here is that a majority of serious NFL fans are diehard fans of the Flag, America and Freedom. All of these things circulate around one consistent oath... The ANTHEM... So when Colin choose that Anthem as the ‘thing’ he was going to show his protest at, it fell on mainly “deaf” ears.
You ever heard the saying “don’t bite the hand that feeds you”, well the typical American Football Fan is the “hand” in this analogy.
Of course not EVER fan, but a large majority...
This make Colin a liability. There are many Teams in the NFL that have atrocious Win/Loss records, year over year, that still pull in millions and millions of dollars. Most loyal Fans love their Team, win-or-lose. If you want proof of this; the Detroit Lions averaged 60,000 fans a game :)
This is a relationship of EMOTION, and when one of your Players does something that could be seen as embarrassing, or an ‘insult’ (even if honorable) it hurts the bottom-line. What business owner wants that? Even the BEST quarterback in the world would find themselves in a similar position.
You can’t imagine the spokesperson for The GAP protesting against global-Cotton usage. But you have Mr. Kaepernick protesting the “America” in the American Football League (I know it’s NFL, but you get my point)...
