In one of hip-hop’s many tragedies (and there have been plenty), rapper DMX, arguably one of the best who ever did it, has deteriorated personally and professionally after some well-known bouts with drugs.

Earlier this year, X (real name Earl Simmons) was sentenced to one year in jail after pleading guilty to one count of federal tax fraud worth $1.7 million to the government. He was ordered to pay $2.29 million in back taxes.
Now, a photo of a rapper during his sentence has surfaced.
In the photo, X is rocking a salt and pepper beard and a bit of a belly—like many other 47-year-olds. He appears healthy, though, and grips the hand of another unidentified inmate with locks.
The photo first surfaced on the Jasmine Brand, thought to be one of the first of X seen since his incarceration began in January 2018.
