King, who called herself a โhopeless romantic,โ said dating at this stage in her life is difficult because some men are intimidated by her success. Guys, she says, are hesitant to step to her because they feel they canโt compete with someone who can buy nice things for herself. But for her part, King says sheโs not trying to compete with her man.
โMy thing is, itโs not a matter of competing. Iโm not looking for somebody to compete,โ she said. โYou want somebody who has a sense of humor, whoโs very secure, whoโs not intimidated by whatever all of this is and just sees you for you.โ
The television personality went on to share that because she prefers Black guys, sheโs swimming in an even smaller dating pool, but adds that sheโs a sucker for the way they cuss.
โI love how they say, โHey, Baby.โ And how the word โmotherfu@*erโ can either be a term of endearment or mean theyโre really pissed off,โ she said. โYou donโt want somebody with a potty mouth. But sometimes, a well-delivered curse word is very intelligent to me.โ
King says a sense of humor, kindness, intelligence and proper grammar are the qualities sheโs looking for when choosing a partner. It also helps if you can adapt to different social situations.
โI like to see how they interact with other people, somebody you can take to the White House and the backyard barbecue,โ she said.ย
