The Obama campaign came out today with a Web video defending the accomplishments of his first term โ€” highlighting the stimulus, the auto bailout, Wall Street reform, health care reform, the repeal of "Don't ask don't tell," the end of the war in Iraq and the death of Osama bin Laden โ€” along with a new slogan for the 2012 race to the White House: "Forward."

From the Washington Post:

On the day Barack Obama took office, America had already lost 4.4 million jobs โ€” an economic disaster, the worst in a generation. Some said Americaโ€™s best days were behind us,โ€ the narrator says over shots of tea party rallies. โ€œAnd like America, he dug deep, fought back and never lost faith in our ability to meet the challenge.โ€

The message is similar to that of the David Guggenheim movie produced for Obamaโ€™s campaign, โ€œThe Road Weโ€™ve Traveledโ€ โ€” that the president inherited a crisis, faced an intractable Republican opposition, and yet was able to succeed on many fronts.

The video will be shown at Obamaโ€™s first two big reelection rallies in Ohio and Virginia this weekend, the campaign said.

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney is out with his own Web video Monday morning, โ€œBroken Promises,โ€ which argues that Obama failed to keep his pledge to cut government programs that do not work.
