President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama wave to well-wishers as they prepare to board Air Force One in Honolulu before returning to Washington, D.C., at the end of their vacation Jan. 3, 2015.

Before ending their two-week Hawaiian vacation, the presidential family took a little trip along the island to visit with rock legend and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and his family, according to the Associated Press.

AP reports that President Barack Obama and his daughters, Sasha and Malia (looks like Michelle Obama sat out this visit), kicked it with the Vedder clan for less than half an hour. No word on whether the two heads of their respective parties composed music or laid down any tracks, but the White House did tell the news service that the rocker is a friend of the Obamas.

Before leaving the island Sunday and returning to Washington, POTUS visited with his sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, took in some sun at the beach and visited “the cemetery where his mother’s father is buried,” AP notes.
