Blow tweeted during the Wednesday GOP debate in Arizona, “Let me just tell you this Mitt ‘Muddle Mouth’: I’m a single parent and my kids are *amazing*! Stick that in your magic underwear #CNNdebate.”

People of the Mormon faith are known to wear a temple undergarment, which is a type of underwear, underneath their clothing as a symbolic reminder of their faith. When Romney was asked about Blow’s comment, he said he was “surprised” but not shocked by the “media bias.”

Before it could turn into a Roland Martin moment for the Times columnist, Blow apologized via Twitter for his comments, saying, “Btw, the comment I made about Mormonism during Wed.’s debate was inappropriate, and I regret it. I’m willing to admit that with no caveats.”

I commend Blow on the immediate apology but hope he thinks twice before pressing “send” next time.
