(The Root) — The beef between American Idol judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey seems to be heating up again, and gossip blogger Perez Hilton is stirring the pot.

Carey took a little shot at Minaj during Wednesday night's episode of Idol, and Hilton fanned the flames on his website. This ignited a series of responses from Minaj in which she jabbed at Carey, calling her "insecure" and "bitter." She also alluded to a rumor that Idol execs have been trying to get Jennifer Lopez back on the show in light of slipping ratings.
For folks who believe that the ongoing catfight between Minaj and Carey is all a ploy for ratings anyway, it should look like no coincidence that last night's show was the lowest rated in Idol history.
