Elin Woods to Tiger: It's Me or The Club

http://www.blackamericaweb.com/?q=articles%2Fnews%2Fmoving_america_news%2F17906

It is being reported that Elin Woods is leaving Tiger officially because he refuses to give up golf. Golf? We thought that unprotected sex with porn stars, cocktail waitresses, and a bevy of busted chicks would be enough for her to leave. Infidelity and public humiliation is cool, but continuing to play the sport that provides the lifestyle to which she has clearly become accustomed isn't? Besides, he seems to be much more committed to golf than her. It sounds like she needs to swap millionaires. We've got Larry King a.k.a. Gollum on the line and he's always ready to put a ring on it.

Join the Club: Tea Party Leaders Anxious about Extremists

How cute. Now the Tea Party "leadership" is worried about extremists, because they have a national platform. Is that why we've been seeing all of these articles about Tea Party members being educated, rational, and wealthy in major publications? Sorry Charlie, but a great PR blitz isn't going to change what we've been watching over the past year. Rage, terror, fear and hate - basically, conservatism rooted in racism, sexism and homophobia. Don't tell us it's raining when you're spitting on us.

AP-GfK Poll: Opposition to health care bill is still intense

http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D9F3J3N81.htm

For real or for play, play? Tell us something we don't know. Change is a process and it's hard. Whether this bill had passed or not, something has to be done about health care. Far too many Republicans - we mean Americans — are without it. If the majority of folks cannot afford health care or do not have access to it at all, Houston we have a problem. We need to fix it and raging against the so-called machine isn't going to solve anything. The jury's still out as to whether the wounds of the health care reform debate will ever heal.

Baller-in-Chief: President Obama Earned $5.5 Million in 2009

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100415/ap_on_bi_ge/us_obamas_taxes

Isn't it nice to have a President and First Lady who disclose earnings without prompting? The Obamas know how many houses they own and how many books they've sold. They gave money to CARE and UNCF and President Obama donated his $1.4 milliion Nobel Peace Prize money to charity. Change is good. Dollars are better.

Record Number of Homes Went into Foreclosure the first 3 Months of 2010

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36547572/ns/business-mortgage_mess/

As if we needed any more bad news, foreclosure rates surged, hitting its highest numbers in 5 years. Banks are on track to see 1 million foreclosures this year. Banks have been bailed out, but obviously aren't bailing out homeowners that fell prey to predatory lenders. Taxpayers a.k.a. homeowners bailed out the banks, so is it too much to expect for them to work with homeowners instead of against them?

Homeless to be Charged Rent at NYC shelters

http://www.postchronicle.com/news/original/article_212295875.shtml

From the "Shame on You" file, New York City is slated to start enforcing a 1997 law that allows them to charge the homeless that "can afford it" up to 44% of their income in rent at shelters. Are we trapped in an episode of Mad TV, because this is sheer madness? Mayor Bloomberg thinks this is a good idea. The Root thinks this is the most heinous and predatory idea we've heard of in a long time. The homeless are homeless and need every penny, particularly in New York City, if they ever have a shot at getting back on their feet. Talk about kicking folks when they're down.

D.C. Officer Cops to Giving Car Jacking Suspect a Ride for Money

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/baltimore-city/bs-md-ci-carjack-20100415-1,0,251684.story

From our “You Big Dummy” file, a DC Police officer who claimed that his service revolver had been taken during a car jacking, admitted that the suspect took the gun after the police officer gave her a ride for money. How much money? $10. Is police pay that low where they have to hustle on the side by giving rides?  We’re not sure how she got his service revolver away from him, but the fact that he got taken, is embarrassing enough. The police officer is currently being investigated for misconduct. We think he should be arrested for impersonating a police officer.
