A New Black Panther Party demonstration in Baton Rouge, La., on Wednesday to mark the one-year anniversary of the police shooting that left Alton Sterling dead turned into a confrontation with police and ended with seven people arrested after demonstrators attempted to march through a barricade line at police headquarters.

Police spokesman Sgt. L’Jean McKneely told The Advocate that seven people would be booked into Parish Prison on counts of entering and remaining after being forbidden and resisting an officer.

McKneely said that members of the New Black Panther Party showed up with a crew from the European documentary-film company Pulpa Film, and at least one of the people arrested was wearing a microphone.

The demonstrators did not have a permit to protest, and four men and three women were arrested. Police have not released their names.

According to The Advocate, protesters were told by police to stay behind barricades as they gathered across the street from police headquarters. When they refused to comply, officers shot them with stun guns and Tippman PepperBall guns and then took them into custody.

One police officer was shot with a stun gun in the forearm during the confrontation, but police said that it was unclear who fired the stun gun.

“When the New Black Panther members stormed the barricade, officers observed a party member with a suspected Taser in hand,” McKneely said. “A police officer fired his Taser and one officer was tased. It is unclear at this time who tased the officer.”

Another vigil in honor of Sterling was planned for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday local time.

Bullshit. If one of us gets shot just for holding a bottle of juice, or an e-cig, or a pair of scissors, or even nothing at all, then why the hell would one of us bring a damn stun gun to a march at a police headquarters? We aren’t stupid; they have enough excuses to shoot us as it is. We all know one of these trigger-happy dumbasses accidentally tased one of his own.
