A pair of Muhammad Ali boxing gloves is once again up for auction, ESPN reports.

The pair, worn during his first heavyweight championship fight on Feb. 25, 1964, in a fight against Sonny Liston, was originally bought at an auction in December 2012 from an estate sale of Ali’s former trainer, Angelo Dundee, the sports site notes.
“Baseball has Babe Ruth, basketball has Jordan and boxing has Ali,” Chris Ivy, director of sports auctions at Heritage, which will sell the gloves, told ESPN. “This a great piece of history.”
The gloves were originally bought for $383,848, and Ivy expects them to garner even bigger bucks for the collector who consigned the memorabilia to his auction. He estimates at least $500,000. The highest bid so far, as of 10:00 am, Wednesday, is $170,000, and bidding won’t close until Feb. 22, so there are at least 10 days left to rake in a higher price.
According to ESPN, the highest price ever paid for a pair of Ali gloves was $1.1 million, paid for by UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta. That pair was worn by the legend in a 1965 fight against Floyd Patterson. He also got one of the original posters used in promoting the fight back then.
