According to KABC, authorities said that if Danny Mitchell hadn’t jumped into action when he did, the victims might not have survived the crash, which occurred shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday on the westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway at Carmenita Road.

The female driver reportedly lost control of her vehicle, which traveled up an embankment and flipped over. The vehicle caught on fire, and that’s when Mitchell, who was passing by, went into action.

“I just pulled over and snatched the girls out of the car before [the car] exploded because it was on fire,” Mitchell told the news station. “It was hot, but I wasn’t thinking about that; I didn’t care.”

The victims were treated at the scene by emergency responders and then taken to the hospital. Their conditions are currently unknown.
