(The Root) — A judge sentenced a 22-year-old North Carolina man to six months in prison for threatening, via Twitter, to assassinate President Obama. During the 2012 Democratic National Convention, Donte Jamar Sims sent a series of tweets outlining specifically how he planned to kill President Obama. Sims now claims that he was high on marijuana and has since written a letter of apology to the president.
