Surprisingly, Blue Ivy wasnโt her original name at first. โIt was supposed to be Brooklyn,โ Jay explained to King. However, the rapperโs hometown took a backseat once the coupleโs prenatal checks started.
โWe was calling her Blueberry. Like, โLook at the little blueberry.โ You know, it was like a nickname,โ he continued. โIt just was natural. We just took the โberryโ off of it and called her Blue.โ
Jay-Z also gushed over his wifeโs popular tour that just wrapped up. โFor me, this was her best tour. This one to me felt like the most complete.โ
He also shared with King that he got โgoosebumpsโ watching Blue Ivy onstage with Bey.
โBlueโs been born into this world that she didnโt ask. Sheโs been born into a life she didnโt ask for. So since she was born sheโs been in, like, scrutiny and public eye, and everyone having an opinion,โ Jay stated.
โShe wanted to do it. She wanted to do it the first night, and we was like, โOK, if this is something you wanna do, you canโt just go out there. You gotta go work with the dancers, and go work. And she worked every day and watched her work hard.โ
Blue performed to the song โMy Power,โ to which the emcee stated: โYou canโt write a better script.โ
For โCBS Mornings,โ King and Carter spoke and also toured the โBook of HOVโ exhibit at Brooklyn Public Library. He also revealed that Blue has gone back and forth about him being a cool dad.
