Royal watchers, heβs here! After Buckingham Palace announced that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex went into labor early on Monday morning, Prince Harry has confirmed (via the Associated Press) that the newest member of the British royal family has arrived!

The announcement ends weeks of speculation about whether Meghan and Prince Harryβs first child, had, in fact, already been born. After initially announcing a late April due date, the couple subsequently announced a private, possibly at-home birth plan, including no post-birth photo ops on the hospital steps, contrasting their royal counterparts, the Windsors. As April became May, many, like our friends over at The Cut, began to believe the birth had actually occurred and the Sussexes were simply enjoying their first days of parenthood in privacy (a decision we wouldβve wholeheartedly supported, by the way).
All conspiracy theories now debunked, we have nothing but congratulations for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the arrival of their first child. While we wonβt expect to see the royal newborn immediately, as promised, Buckingham Palace is keeping the public abreast of developments, so weβll be following closely, as a name and more details emerge. More to come...
Update: Monday, 5/6/19 at 5:20 p.m.: Issuing a public statement earlier today, Prince Harry confirmed that mother and child are doing βincredibly well,β and that they will greet the public as a family later this week. Harry also confirmed that though the baby was overdue, he and Meghan are still considering names for their firstborn son.
