John Singleton, director of Boyz n the Hood, spoke about Cubeβs career going from rapping about βfuck the policeβ (for which my 18-year-old son knows him) to being βNick with all of the kidsβ (as my 4-year-old niece knows him) on family movies like Are We There Yet? The ceremony came on the heels of the release of the 25th-anniversary edition of his second album, Death Certificate.
