New court filings revealed some new details as to when we can expect Bad Boy Entertainment founder Sean โDiddyโ Combs to face a jury in trial on his sex trafficking charges.
Thursday, Judge Arun Subramanian set the date for Combโs federal trial on charges of sex trafficking and more for May 5, 2025, per USA TODAY.
In court documents filed late Wednesday, federal prosecutors gave a laundry list of discovery items they plan to dissect including various electronics, hard drives, evidence seized from Combsโ mansions and business records across financial institutions, hotels and phone companies.
In response, Combsโ legal team requested the court set a โreasonable production deadlineโ to allow time for Combs to review the material in anticipation of a trial date as early as spring.
โMr. Combs continues to assert his right to a speedy trial and intends to request a trial date in April or May 2025, and as consistent with the Courtโs trial schedule,โ the filing read, while also requesting deadlines for filing pretrial motions.
Looks like Combsโ team got what they wanted. However, in response to the rapperโs recent (and third) attempt at bail, Judge Subramanian denied the request yet again. Combs will stay in federal detention until the Spring.
On Monday, Sept. 16, the 54-year-old rap mogul was arrested in Manhattan by federal authorities. His indictment was unsealed the following morning, revealing charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and engaging in interstate transportation for prostitution. The allegations against Combs include sexual abuse, physical abuse, bribery and various drug offenses.
The most notable claims stem from his so-called โfreak offโ sex parties, where prosecutors allege women and men were drugged and forced to perform sexual acts at Combsโ pleasure. He was also accused of using video footage to blackmail the victims into compliance.
Combsโ arrest was roughly six months after federal authorities raided his two homes in Los Angeles and Miami in March 2024, and four months after damning video footage leaked of him brutally assaulting ex-girlfriend and Bad Boy Records signee Casandra โCassieโ Ventura at a hotel in 2016.
In November 2023, Combs was sued by Ventura in a civil suit that accused him of sex trafficking, human trafficking, sexual battery, sexual assault, and other allegations. Combs quickly settled the suit within 24 hours, but lawsuits from other associates have quickly followed in the months since.
While many of the suits since 2023 have been civil, this federal case has Combs facing criminal charges. He has pleaded not guilty, and was denied bail.
