Walker is promoting her third album in her “Over It” trilogy, “Finally Over It,” and her promotion tactics have caused the star to go viral twice already. In September, she caused an uproar when she attended the VMAs with an elder white man named Mr. James as her date, and just last week, we previously reported how folks on X had a lot to say when she revealed her album cover that showed her marrying an older white man in a wheelchair.
But the “Girls Need Love” artist has folks online in stitches with her latest marketing move after she posted a TikTok throwing black bin bags filled with her exes’ things into a dump truck. In another post, she told her followers she would be riding all around Atlanta to pick up their exes’ things next.
“Welcome to my finally over it dump truck service. We’ll be riding all around Atlanta, coming to pick up your ex’s stuff. Come on with me, we’re going to start at Morehouse College, and we’re going to keep it going. Make sure you have it ready. You don’t have to hold onto anything any longer, because we are coming to pick that sh*t up,” Walker addressed her fans.
“Baaaag ladyyyy,” the R&B star sang in a TikTok as she threw a black bag into the back of her dump truck. “No more baggage, chile.”
In the comments, viewers were in hysterics over the garbage truck service and all too ready to give Walker their things or even the exes themselves.
“Just come get my ex. His whole self and all,” wrote one user with a laughing emoji.
Fans outside Atlanta and even the country asked the “Circus” artist to bring her service to more locations so they could join in on the fun.
“Please make a pit stop in South Florida asap,” @anthony.el.bori pleaded. “I’ll be waiting outside, thanks in advance.”
“Come with it to Kenya,” commented one viewer.
Walker’s promotion is in collaboration with YouTube, which has sponsored the artist’s celebration of the third studio album with the dump truck service. The thrown-out goods will be donated to local charities in Atlanta, and the platform will also host an escape room for fans and a listening party, according to the YouTube blog.
Enjoying her marketing style, fans in the comments have complimented Summer Walker’s promotion and are excited for the album to drop on Nov. 14.
“I like this rollout out sis. The marketing fire. I can’t wait,” wrote one user.
“PR team deserves a raise!!!! This is genius, actually,” added another.
Over the weekend, fans of Summer Walker posted videos on TikTok of the singer turning up at Morehouse College, and encouraging people to get rid of any baggage they still have.
Even though the marketing style has caused most online to laugh, others are upset that they missed out on meeting their fav.
“Why did I not know about this??” asked one user.
“Ain’t nb told me nothingggg,” wrote another.
