What was scheduled as just another political rally quickly turned into a once in a lifetime experience for Atlanta residents and visitors alike. It wouldn’t be an ATL event if the stars didn’t show up and out, and musical artists Megan Thee Stallion and Quavo took the stage to show their support for Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign for the oval office.

In case that wasn’t enough to fire up the crowd of 10,000 attendees, several Georgia Democrats including Stacey Abrams and Sen. Raphael Warnock graced the stage to support of the presumptive Democratic nominee.
But even before her remarks, Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion set the stage on fire with a medley of some of her most notable hits, including “Body,” which she connected to the ongoing debate about women’s rights and reproductive health care. “I know my ladies in the crowd love their body,” she said. “And if you want to keep loving your body, you know who to vote for.”
Of course haters gone hate, and many on social media had a lot to say about Megan’s performance. However, her fans and supporters of Harris came to her defense, praising the rapper for using her platform to emphasize the importance of voting. While on stage, Megan also coined “Hotties for Harris,” which X user @rduran said “is a damn good slogan.”
Hometown hero and Atlanta rapper Quavo also hit the stage on a more serious note. The Migos rapper continues his mission to promote the end of gun violence. CNN reports that Quavo sat down with Harris for their second public discussion last month on gun violence prevention in America, following the 2022 shooting death of Quavo’s nephew and fellow Migos rapper, Takeoff.
Even though Quavo didn’t perform any music, that didn’t stop VP Harris from referencing lyrics from his 2018 smash hit “Walk It Talk It” to call out former President Donald Trump on the ongoing southern border crisis.
Some called Harris’ joke corny; others called it clever. Regardless of how you feel about it, Georgians in the crowd immediately recognized Harris’ game and cheered her on.
Since announcing her bid for presidency, Harris has been endorsed by every Georgia Democrat in the House and Senate. Sen. Jon Ossoff, Sen. Raphael Warnock, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, and even Stacey Abrams all spoke in support of Harris during the rally.
Abrams championed Harris’ “we are not going back” slogan during her speech, which the Georgia crowd chanted back in return.
One of the many highlights from the night happened during Harris’ 20-minute speech. She once again called Trump out for backing down from debating her in September. The vice president told the GOP candidate “if you have something to say... say it to my face,” and that, ladies and gentlemen, was the call out that everyone was waiting for.
Even Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett reacted to Harris’ jab on X.
X user @TheStefanSmith said Harris’ fiesty comment spoke directly to a piece of himself that “broke in 2016.” The VP might just found a new slogan, and the people are here for it all!
Tuesday’s rally marked Harris’ 15th trip to the state and her first since Biden’s bombshell dropout. The Peach State was key to the president’s 2020 win over Trump, so it is only fair to say Georgia will once again play a vital role in the upcoming election.
According to the New York Times, the battleground state was predicted to fall to Trump this time around, but Harris is making her rounds in hopes to keep Georgia blue in November.
