According to ABC News, Hafford wasnโ€™t aware that she had been shot when she pulled over to the side of the road to call police to report that the driver had been heckling her before he fired. It wasn't until she was on the phone with the operator that she noticed she was bleeding.

Hafford was rushed to Memorial Hermann Texas Trauma Institute, where doctors removed bullet fragments from her brain, according to ABC News. Hafford was released from the hospital, and police continue to look for the shooter, described as a male driving a white Chevy Tahoe.
