Rashema Melson has an incredible story. She is slated to graduate from high school as valedictorian Wednesday, despite the hardship of living at D.C. General, a former hospital that is now a tumbledown homeless shelter in Washington, D.C., the Washington Post reports.

Not only that, the Anacostia High School senior, 18, is to attend Georgetown University on a full scholarship in the fall, the report says. She accomplished it all over the past two years while living at the shelter with her mother and siblings, Fox News reports.

"It's pushing me to be better, to know what I want in life,” she told Fox about living at the homeless shelter, “and to know this is not what I want but I have to go through it for the moment.”
