Director George Lucas and actors Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr. come together to pay homage to the heroic actions of the Tuskegee Airmen in the new film Red Tails, which opens on Friday.

Lucas’ Red Tails takes the stories of the Airmen from textbooks to the big screen. After the project was rejected by all seven major Hollywood studios, Lucas decided to pump his own money into producing and promoting the movie. Continuing the high-energy, big-action legacy of Lucasfilm, Red Tails goes beyond being a mere history lesson, enlisting CGI and other special effects to create an energetic moviegoing experience to illustrate the journey of the Tuskegee Airmen.
After several prerelease screenings across the country, Red Tails has garnered support from film addicts and history buffs as well as from many of the surviving Tuskegee Airmen.
