This time, the head of the Drug Enforcement Administration will step down by weekโ€™s end because he is โ€œconvinced that President Trump has no respect for the law,โ€ according to a report from the New York Times.

Chuck Rosenberg will step down as acting head of the DEA after two years on the job, according to an email he sent out to staff, the Times reports.

โ€œWe must earn and keep the public trust and continue to hold ourselves to the very highest standards,โ€ Rosenberg wrote in the internal email. โ€œOurs is an honorable profession and, so, we will always act honorably.โ€

Rosenberg apparently took issue with two matters specifically: Trumpโ€™s speech in July, when he told cops not to be โ€œtoo nice to suspectsโ€ when arresting them; and the dismissal of then-FBI head James Comey, a close friend of Rosenberg, whom Trump unceremoniously and crassly fired over a loyalty litmus test in May.

After the July speech, Rosenberg sent out an email, doubling down on the fact that law enforcement must not abuse those in their custody.

The Times reports that Rosenberg told Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein that he wanted to leave his post as early as late July.
