Damon Feldman, owner of Celebrity Boxing, generated outrage among civil rights activists and social media users when he announced plans to host a match between George Zimmerman and rapper DMX on what would have been Trayvon Martin’s 19th birthday.

Feldman, who earlier this week billed the event as one of the biggest celebrity boxing matches of all time, announced that he had picked DMX out of more than 15,000 match-up requests for the three-round, pay-per-view fight.

But sometimes common sense prevails. On Saturday, Feldman announced on Twitter that he’d had a change of heart, saying, β€œIt was my decision to cancel the george zimmerman fight it was worth a lot of money to me but people's feelings meant more to me.” The move elicited positive responses in his Twitter feed. One of his followers, @ReignOfApril, wrote, "Thank you. A thousand times, thank you. This was the right decision."
