According to the Hollywood Reporter, the lawsuit, filed in New York, claims that Tart and his fellow interns should have received payment because under Department of Labor regulations, the work they performed did not meet the agency’s standards for unpaid internships.

The work the interns were responsible for included washing dishes, getting coffee and getting rid of the trash. These duties did not provide the interns with any valuable academic training, which is also against the Department of Labor’s standards, the lawsuit claims.

Tart’s class action lawsuit will cover about 100 former and current interns of The Wendy Williams Show. Lionsgate declined to respond to the Hollywood Reporter about Tart’s lawsuit.
