Police claim that Ephrian Myles, 47, became angry at Gizmo, his girlfriend's dachshund-chihuahua mix, and reportedly dumped hot sauce on the puppy.

The spicy condiment got in the dog's eyes and throat, causing Gizmo to have trouble breathing and swelling his eyes shut. The puppy's owner rushed the dog to a local fire station, where he was treated, the Herald-Tribune reports.

Myles, who pleaded no contest to charges of animal cruelty, was also ordered to complete an anger-management course and can never own a pet or reside in a home with animal. He also cannot have contact with the dog's owner.
