Vinson, who contracted the disease while treating now-deceased patient Thomas Eric Duncan, was being treated at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta after being transferred from Dallas.

On Tuesday night, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Emory Hospital officials confirmed that they were unable to detect the virus in the nurse’s body, which also clears her to be transferred from the isolation unit, the family stated.

“We all know that further treatment will be necessary as Amber continues to regain strength, but these latest developments have truly answered prayers and bring our family one step closer to reuniting with her at home,” her mother, Debra Berry, said in a statement, the Post notes.

The first nurse to contract the disease from Duncan, Nina Pham, is also doing well after being transferred to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., the Post reports. Her condition was upgraded to “good” on Tuesday.
