We recently profiled seven up-and-coming black directors. And last week, “Eye on Black”: A Salute to Directors honored African-American filmmaking pioneers Keenan Ivory Wayans, Robert Townsend, Tim Story and Melvin Van Peebles at the California African American Museum.

Check out the pictures from the event and expect to (hopefully) hear some of these names at future Academy Awards ceremonies.
