Some people are probably reading this and asking themselves, “Who are FKA Twigs and Robert Pattinson?” Well, in a nutshell, if you're a fan, or have teens who are fans, of the Twilight movie series, then you may recognize Pattinson from those films. In addition to starring in the movies, Pattinson also dated his co-star Kirsten Stewart, until she cheated on him with a married man.

Twilight stans—I mean fans—who are commonly referred to as “Twihards,” didn't take the breakup lightly. And apparently there are quite a few racist Twihards.

Enter English singer FKA Twigs, Pattinson's newest girlfriend. And hold your breath: She is not white, as some Twihards would hope that she would be.

Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, is half-Jamaican and half-Latina and has been receiving racist comments on social media since her relationship with Pattinson went public. Twigs took to her Twitter account to put the racists on blast.

"I am genuinely shocked and disgusted at the amount of racism that has been infecting my account the past week," the singer tweeted Sunday.

Twigs has been called everything from the n-word to a monkey. Her looks have been scrutinized and ridiculed. People have even said Pattinson could do much better. But considering he always looks like he hasn't bathed in weeks, I'm not sure how.

But here's the thing: I'm glad Twigs is speaking out against the racist trolls she's had to deal with, but what about her man? Pattinson has seemingly been silent, and one has to wonder why. As someone who has dated interracially since my teens, I've been fortunate enough not to have to deal with people's racist ideologies. But I'll be damned if I stick around with a man who won't respond to harassment.

Racists will be racists; they're not going anywhere. Sure, Twigs is a grown woman who can stick up for herself, but if I'm dating you and you don't have my back publicly, then what good are you?
