While one could argue that her statements were meant to inspire vis a vis the “we will not be shaken” angle, the statements of Bunnie Jackson, a college spokeswoman, are extremely troubling. “It’s just one piece of property on the edge of campus.” How, Ms. Jackson, do you think institutional undoings take place? Just one building with classrooms and an art gallery? The school owes the city several million dollars and we doubt they will simply auction “one” building and leave it at that. This sounds strangely like the rationale used by most of Europe pre-1939 when the Germans were preparing for world domination, one piece of property at a time.
