Repping: New Jersey via Baltimore

Beginning as a classically trained pianist, Tiye Phoenix is a lyrically shrewd rapper, singer and producer who has been in the music industry for more than a decade. She's written with Public Enemy, worked with producers Hank and Keith Shocklee, and slayed competition in several beat battles. Once upon a time, Phoenix was signed to Rawkus Records, where she worked with Mos Def, Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek. These days, she's promoting her slept-on album 'Half Woman Half Amazin', released via BabyGrande Records in 2009.
