School officials in a Massachusetts town are apologizing for sending home a lunch menu that included  “KKK Chicken Tenders,” the Blaze reports.

About 6,500 students got new menus Tuesday, a day after the original one mistakenly listed a lunch item seemingly inspired by the Ku Klux Klan.

Don’t worry, it wasn’t actually meat draped in a white sauce or adorned with a mini burning cross. Superintendent Judith Scannell explained that the menu was supposed to list “KK Chicken Tenders,” with the “KK” standing for a creatively spelled “Krispy, Krunchy,” but an employee mistakenly hit the ”K” key one too many times.

Oops.

The food-service director got one complaint. Scannell apologized if anyone was offended.

City Council member Sean Fountain told the Eagle-Tribune, “I think it’s being blown more out of proportion than what really happened. I really don’t think it was intended to be a negative issue or racial issue.”
