On Monday, court documents became public involving the death of Prince. The unsealed documents showed that the medications found in the singer’s home were not prescribed to him. Bottles of opioid painkillers found in the home were prescribed to Prince’s friend and former drummer Kirk Johnson, according to CNN.

The pills were found in various places around Prince’s Paisley Park estate and were concealed in vitamin bottles and in envelopes. According to the documents that were released, witnesses told authorities that Prince “recently had a history of going through withdrawals, which are believed to be the result of abuse of prescription medication.”
Dr. Michael Schulenberg, one of Prince’s main doctors, said that he prescribed oxycodone to Prince and placed the prescription under Prince’s bodyguard’s name for privacy reasons, the documents state.
Prince died April 21, 2016, at his home in Chanhassen, Minn., from an accidental overdose of the opioid fentanyl.
