Sarah Wilsonβs parents say police killed her. Police claim Wilson somehow produced a gun out of nowhere, put it to her mouth and committed suicide during a traffic stop. Even more unbelievably, they say the 19-year-old did all of this while she was handcuffed with her arms behind her back.
In July 2018, Sarah Wilson, who is white, and her boyfriend, 27-year-old Holden Medlin, were stopped by police in Chesapeake, Va., according to WRIC. Police say Medlin turned combative and took off running after the police found drugs in the car. When the officer who handcuffed Wilson left her sitting in her boyfriendβs passenger seat and went to help his partner, police claim the teen retrieved a gun that was hidden in the car that somehow escaped the copsβ notice after they had found drugs in the vehicle. While the policemen were tasing Medlin, the officers claim Wilson βcontortedβ her body, andβstill handcuffedβput the gun in her mouth and fired.

On Thursday, Chesapeakeβs Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that Wilson died of an βintra-oral gunshot woundβ and labeled her death a suicide. A grand jury later charged Medlin with possession of oxycodone, possession of suboxone, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a firearm with a schedule I or II drug, fleeing from a law enforcement officer, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
And get this: Police could have proved that this was all a spectacular set of circumstances because the uniformed officer who stopped the couple was wearing a body camera. Police say they would be delighted to hand over that evidence and make it public. There is just one problem.
According to News13, the officerβs body camera malfunctioned.
