So why does it still exist? And why does it seem to help only those states with little diversity? On the heels of the Trumpocalypse, a new Change.org petition is now asking for the Electoral College to elect Hillary Clinton as president when it meets in December.

"The only reason Trump 'won' is because of the Electoral College," the petition explains. "But the Electoral College can actually give the White House to either candidate. So why not use this most undemocratic of our institutions to ensure a democratic result?"

Clinton, who won the popular vote by over a million, didn't reference the Electoral College in her speech Wednesday. And what are the chances of the Electoral College not declaring Trump president? Slim to none, probably.
