I was reading the newspapers and Buckwheat was watching Meet The Press at the Home for Retired Racial Stereotypes yesterday. Suddenly the famous Our Gang star emitted a high-pitched yelp, followed by uncontrollable giggles.

โWhatโs come over you?โ I inquired, putting down my newspaper.
โOh my, I think I jusโ heard Michael Steele say Sen. Harry Reid needs ta quit โcuz he done made a racially insensitive statement โbout Prezadent Obama, and I cainโt stop laffing,โ Buckwheat managed to squeak before collapsing unto the floor in another bout of uncontrollable tittering.
โWell, I certainly hope you calm down,โ I interjected. โI donโt see anything funny about Reidโs saying that Obama was able to appeal to white voters because he is light-skinned and does not speak in a Negro dialect. Thatโs the kind of stereotypical comment weโve come to expect from Republicans. Surely someone like you, whoโs been ridiculed for his appearance and for speaking Ebonics can understand why some find Reidโs comments equally insulting when they come from an important Democrat.โ
โOh, I does, I does,โ Buckwheat replied, struggling to get his breath and wiping mirth tears from his cheek. โIโse just as offended by Reidโs remarks as I wuz when Joe Biden said Obama was clean and articulate. Itโs stereotypinโ, no doubt about it! Reid was right to apologize.โ
โThen why are you laughing your fool ass off about such a serious matter?โ I inquired.
โDonโt you get it, Jack?โโ Buckwheat declared, as he lapsed into another fit of hysterical laughter. โIt ainโt jes whatโs beinโ said, itโs whoโs sayinโ it! And de one sayinโ it is MICHAEL STEELE!!!!!!โ
โSo?โ I interjected. โAs chairman of the Republican Party, he has a right to speak out.โ
โNo doubt, but dis is de same MICHAEL STEELE who said blacks should join the Republican Party cuz he was putting out the fried chicken and tater salad!!!!โ squeaked Buckwheat.
โDe same Micheal Steele who promised jes last week dey wud keep dere promises, HONEST INJUN!!!!!โ
โMy goodness,โ I said.
โSteele ainโt apologized yet,โ added Buckwheat, as giggling overcame him again. โHeโs definitely an unrepentant Republican.โ
โDatโs why Iโse Iaffinโ so hard,โ Buckwheat said, between chortles. โLaffinโ to keep from cryin.โ
โI understand how you feel,โ I said, and started giggling, too.
