Oh and Tip

Stop the presses.

One of the most beloved animation studios, DreamWorks, is working on its next project, Home, but there’s something just a little bit different about this 3D post-apocalyptic film. The main star of this feature will be a little black girl, Tip.

According to the Indiewire, the futuristic film is based on the children’s book The True Meaning of Smekday, and the studio is tapping Barbadian singer Rihanna to voice the intrepid little girl.

The film also features the voice talents of singer Jennifer Lopez, The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons and entertainer Steve Martin.

When Earth is taken over by the overly-confident Boov, an alien race in search of a new place to call home, all humans are promptly relocated, while the Boov get busy efficiently reorganizing the planet. But when one resourceful girl, Tip, (Rihanna) manages to avoid capture, she finds herself the accidental accomplice of a banished Boov by the name of Oh (Jim Parsons). Equally stubborn and set in their ways, these two fugitives realize there’s a lot more at stake than intergalactic relations as they embark on the road trip of a lifetime. Good thing they have a flying car, the summary reads, according to Indiewire.

Although not much more information has yet been revealed about the project, Rihanna is also expected to record a concept album of original songs from the film, Indiewire notes.

The film's release is scheduled for Nov. 26.
