Just weeks after Young Thug’s wild YSL RICO trial was put on hold, it’s almost ready to continue its tenure as the longest-running criminal trial in Georgia history.

The case was delayed indefinitely because presiding judge Ural Glanville was investigated for having an improper secret meeting with prosecutors and one of the state’s star witnesses. But now the celebrity trial has a new judge.
According to the Washington Post, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Shukura Ingram was assigned to replace Glanville and oversee the case from this point forward.

In a written order, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Rachel Krause, who had been assigned to hear recusal motions from the Atlanta rapper and another co-defendant, said she agreed “generally” with Judge Ural Glanville, who defended the June 10 meeting and his decision not to inform defense attorneys about it.
Krause said she found nothing “inherently improper” about the meeting but also criticized Glanville’s handling of the matter, suggesting that his defensive posture raised questions about his ability to be objective. She ordered that Glanville should be recused, citing public trust.
Accusations of this “secret” meeting were originally made by Thug’s attorney, who was initially sentenced to 10 weeks in jail after he refused to tell Glanville how he learned of the secret meeting, thus being held in contempt of court.
Steel claimed that he and his client received no notification that a meeting was occurring and it violated his constitutional rights to due process and a fair trial. He even filed a motion to have Glanville dismissed, claiming he was being biased towards the prosecution.
Now in its 18th month, it’s unclear when the trial will continue, per the report from The Post. It’s been nearly a month since jurors last heard any new testimonies in the case.
