Lena Waithe, Melissa McCarthy, Mila Kunis, Alison Janney and Kate Hudson all bolstered Obama’s all-female squad, while Harry Styles, Benedict Cumberbatch, bandleader Reggie Watts and John Bradley (better known as Samwell Tarley from Game of Thrones) comprised Corden’s team—which unfortunately didn’t have the benefit of Obama’s famed quips (or nutritional advice).

“When they go low, we also go low,” said the first lady, remixing one of her most famous phrases. “Because that’s how dodgeball works, amirite?”

“It’s hard to say who’s going to win this one,” said Waithe, milking a moment of faux humility, before course-correcting. “Who am I kidding? Of course, we’re gonna win. It’s Obama. Michelle Obama. We’re winners.”

Yes. Yes, we are. Not only did Team USA predictably spank Corden’s all-male team (because who run the world? Girls), but we were the real winners, because ... hilarity. Bonus points? Those of us lucky enough to hit the 25th annual Essence Festival this year will get another win when Michelle Obama appears at the Superdome on July 6. (Can you tell we’re excited about seeing her?
