According to the Hollywood Reporter, DuVernay is currently developing a film that takes place in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina. The movie will be a love story, coupled with a murder mystery. Oyelowo, who also worked with DuVernay on her first film,Β Middle of Nowhere, is currently in negotiations to star in the yet-untitled movie.

DuVernay is slated to write, produce and direct the film, while Participant Media’s Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King will executive-produce it.

β€œI’m thrilled to reunite with my Participant family on this project and fortunate to work again with the always exquisite David Oyelowo. The story we’re interested in will explore the complexities of intimate relationships within times of chaos, while also examining the chaos itself. I’m looking forward to the journey,” DuVernay stated.
