You are incorrect. She wrote about being biracial in 2014, and to the best of my knowledge, has never claimed Judaism. But the fact that even so many black folks/outlets want to divorce her from blackness—despite her claims to the contrary and her black mother being the only member of her family invited to her wedding

I can’t speak to trademarks (though that is easily researchable), but I’d venture a guess that Tarana might’ve, since those of us who knew her pre-worldwide acclaim know she’d already had rallies, a website, t-shirts, an action plan, etc., years prior to the explosion of the hashtag in 2017—which made it easy for us

Okay, but while Markle now enjoys immeasurable privilege (and yet, by the palace’s own estimations, also unprecedented misogyny and racism, also known as misogynoir), comparing her to Trump is a pretty significant (and offensive) false equivalency, opinions notwithstanding. She came from a middle class American

In truth, I don’t know whether Bond did or didn’t encourage Morgan to do so—Morgan reportedly didn’t even remember coining the phrase, and there is clearly no animosity between the two over it. As for her already successful brand, Bond’s argument is that because it is exclusively licensed to BET, she trademarked other

She’s been a royal less than a year. Are you suggesting she has no experience of being a working woman (a working woman of color, at that—for nearly 20 years, by most estimations), and is therefore not qualified to talk about it?

My perception was that she was saying they remain on the margins in terms of representation and public praise.

#Facts. I’m not arguing for male circumcision, but to go into details I chose to avoid in the article, we are talking about people literally scraping out girls’ genitalia and sewing the outer lips shut, leaving barely enough of an opening to urinate and menstruate—that is, until they slit her back open to give birth (i

I’ve heard rumors that Butler will finally(!) be making it to the screen. Fingers crossed...

The comparison I was making was actually accessibility and unfiltered intimacy with their social media followers, which both Cardi and Lizzo excel at, and which was a huge component of Cardi’s rise to fame (and still is). Lizzo is no less engaging, intelligent and occasionally explicit, which is why I drew the

It’s about black economic power. Even ancient African tribes adorned themselves with extra hair (and still do); she’s saying she will only buy and wear hair from our communities and sellers. You may not agree with the practice, but it’s certainly not anti-black empowerment.

Real talk? I’m not giving mine up, either. Maybe there’s a red lipstick post in store.

It was pure silliness.

Thanks for the added intel; that was unavailable when we posted.

This has long since been disproven.

I did! And thank you so, so much for following along! I hope you’ll stay tuned for Big Beauty Tuesdays—and that I feature more things also available overseas (feel free to suggest)!

You clearly scare easily.
Meanwhile, you should see me when I’m angry.

These days, not often at all. I’ve actually done it more while on this challenge than in many months prior (I’m growing out a longtime keratin habit, which also cut down on my heat styling). But on average, usually less than once a week..

Yes—in addition to Trophy Wife! Gold Nectar everywhere, for everyone!

Actually, it was exactly that. The black and gold played beautifully together, I loved the tea length, and really felt she looked chic while entirely herself; not overdone, and totally in step with her general “cool girl” vibe.

I actually love both, but for entirely different reasons. She pretty much nailed it all weekend, in my opinion.
