Good to know...and thanks for the recommendation!

Maybe not just musicals, but with Black History Month and the Academy Awards converging, I may have already had something in mind. *wink*

Former makeup artist, veteran model. Shapeshifting used to be my job.

I’ll look into that!

*blushes* Thank you. I’ve also gotten very skilled at the art of the selfie.

My secret is oil—to wash (at all times) and moisturize (at night). I’ll get into that soon.

Aww... I clean up nice.

That interview was likely several months ago, so she may have had a change of heart by now.

That outrage may not exist for non-black Italians, but several black ones have spoken out about it. Again, just a Google away.

That’s actually untrue. Racist, “Sambo”-type caricatures exist in Italy as well (and are a quick Google away), though the history of minstrelsy is primarily associated with the U.S.

Again, were there a diversity of decision-makers on the design, production and marketing levels, they could’ve easily explored that option, and this article would likely not exist (even a white, blue or green trim on a black sweater would’ve probably been a non-event, tbh). It’d just be ugly, rather than debatably

But I never said that. I said it was ugly—and that a more diverse staff likely would caught the potential implications/response, because their lens allows them to do so. So, this is less about asking a specific designer to be all things to all people than to be smart and well-intentioned enough to hire people who can

Issa whole mess. And not even nearly worth the outrage it caused.

What I’m asking is for designers to diversify their staffs and consider the diversity of their potential clientele. That’s not a reach—or even emotional. That’s just a sound business practice in today’s climate.

Reading an article before commenting is always advisable. But yes, I’m pretty limber, thanks for your concern.

Thank you. This is so not hard.

I don’t know what to say...once used, bar soap skeeves me out. I recycle my bottles, though.
